Next, I spoke to "*****" at Ascension's billing department (Feb.

The first time, I went in to Ascension Seton NW and was given "****'s" telephone number with a promise that he would call back. Two people on two different occasions have told me that "************," a manager, will contact me. No one from Ascension Seton NW has returned my call or tried to help in any way.I'm having trouble getting in touch with someone who can help. No one can explain why I have received this bill. The claim, it seems, was not submitted at all or perhaps incorrectly on Ascension Seton's part. I've been billed for close to $1000 as if I were uninsured. Please note that I am covered by ********** Blue Shield ***** through my employer.I am experiencing a serious billing issue that occurred as a result of an error on Ascension Seton's part. I am a patient with Ascension Seton, where I underwent surgery on Feb. I cannot afford this amount and asked to settled for a reasonable amount of $160. This is not in compliance with SB1731 and pricing transparency. In addition, I've had many calls with billing. I have called and emailed the facility several times, talked with BCBS several times, filed an appeal with billing department and BCBS. Other facilities would have been under $200.

This is a ridiculous amount and I would never have received services if I knew this. In January, I received an itemized statement that says "THIS IS NOT A BILL" in the amount of $682.36. I went to great efforts before the service and throughout my treatment to get a cost estimate by asking at the facility and calling many billing numbers and got no information. I received services at Ascension Seton Physical Therapy, 499 Old Austin Hwy, ******* ** on 11-23-2022 to 12-21-2022. I have spent probably about 30 hours dealing with this situation, and still have NO idea where my money is. I cannot get a consistent answer from anyone at the hospital - answers range anywhere from "we have no record of your account" to "the refund was applied to your outstanding bill" (of which there is **** outstanding) and finally "the refund will reach you in 5 weeks."I have all my receipts, documentation of the calls with insurance and the hospital, and even a few recordings of what I've had to go through to reach their **************** team. This was in November 2022 and it is now March 2023. After my surgery, in examining my bill, I realized that they billed the wrong insurance and that the money was in error as I had already met my deductible for the year.I followed up with my insurance, and they confirmed this was the case and submitted a request to the hospital for me to be refunded to my original payment method. In September 2022 I had surgery at Ascension Seton Austin and was told at the time of my surgery that I owed $1,10**** which I subsequently paid on my credit card. ATTACHING YOUR BILL TO THE BBB COMPLAINT. COMES CLOSE TO THE CLEAR DEFINITION OF MAIL FRUAD. FINALLY, PLACING A BILL IN THE MAIL, KNOWING YOUR CAN'T BILL THE PATIENT DUE TO THE ***** THE PATIENT IS A ******** PATIENT. IF THAT IS THE ***** THEN IT'S NOT THE INSURANCE NOR THE PATIENT'S OR THEIR CARE GIVER'S PROBLEM. HOWEVER, YOU HAVE PAST THE TIMELY FILING DEADLINE AND AS A RESULT, MAY NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR PAYMENT PER ***** LAW. THEREFORE, YOU EITHER NEED TO PROCEED FORWARD WITH FILING, IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, WITH THE PRIMARY OF 2023, WHICH WAS *********************** & WHITE HEALTH PLAN FOR THE DATE OF SERVICE: 04-8-2022, OR MOVE ON TO THE SECONDARY PLAN, WHICH WAS CIGNA. AS YOUR INVOICE STATES "*********************** & WHITE HEALTH PLAN, STATES YOUR NO LONGER AN ACTIVE MEMBER ON THIS PLAN." MY CHILD WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THAT PLAN IN 2022, SHE IS NO LONGER A ACTIVE MEMBER OF THAT PLAN IN 2023. ANOTHER ***** YOUR BUSINESS SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO TAKE A CHEAP ANSWER FROM THE PRIMARY INSURANCE IN 2022. SECONDLY, I'VE ATTEMPTED TO REACH SOMEONE VIA THE PORTAL AS A FOLLOW UP NO RESPONSE. DUE TO THIS ***** WHAT ONE INSURANCE DOENS'T PAY/COVER THE NEXT ONE WILL OR ******** WILL COVER. MORE OVER IN YEAR 2022, MY CHILD HAD (3) BENEFITS.
